this lovely piece is redwood burl, an off cut gifted to me by a wood turner on the Olympic Peninsula whom I had the rare opportunity to meet over a decade ago.
Just a wedge of chainsaw waste, I managed to coax it into a dimensioned blank with saw and plane.
I drool over the concept of that first lick of oil and what it will do to that flawless surface
